Russia has shocked the West by launching a hypersonic ballistic missile attack on Ukraine. The former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev posted a video of the attack on social media, taunting the West with the message, “So that’s what you wanted? You damn well got it!”
This attack comes after several incidents of Ukraine and NATO forces launching attacks on Russia using US-made long-range missiles. The escalation of the conflict was initiated by Joe Biden’s regime, who approved Ukraine’s use of powerful American long-range weapons to strike deep inside Russia. Specifically, Ukraine was given permission to use the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), a supersonic-guided missile system with a maximum range of about 190 miles.
On Tuesday, Ukraine fired six US-made long-range missiles inside Russia, targeting the border region of Bryansk. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that five missiles were shot down by S-400 & Pantsir AA systems, while one was damaged, causing a fire in a military facility.
In response to Biden’s decision to provide Ukraine with “long-range” missiles, Russian President Putin approved an updated nuclear doctrine for Russia. The new doctrine states that aggression against Russia and its allies by a non-nuclear country with the support of a nuclear state will be considered a joint attack.
On Wednesday, Biden approved the use of antipersonnel land mines for Ukraine, reversing his previous policy. These mines are designed to target humans and are intended to impede the advance of Russian ground troops in Ukraine.
In retaliation, Russia launched hypersonic ballistic missiles into Ukraine on Thursday. The situation continues to escalate, with both sides engaging in increasingly aggressive actions. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine shows no signs of abating, and the consequences of this ongoing warfare are likely to be devastating for both countries and the region as a whole.
