Israel retaliates against Iran. Earlier today, Iranian military bases in Tehran and other cities were targeted by missiles in response to Iran’s air strikes on October 1. The attack was carried out after over 200 rockets and ballistic missiles were launched by Iran to avenge the killing of Hezbollah’s chief, Hassan Nasrallah.

Iran claims that the strikes caused “limited damage”, while Israel asserts that it now has greater freedom to operate in the skies over Iran. The aftermath of the attacks led to a complete airspace lockdown in Iran, Syria, and Iraq.

According to FlightRadar24, a flight tracking website, no aircraft is currently flying over the three countries. However, Iran has announced that flights will resume after the attacks.

Syria reported that Israel conducted air strikes from the occupied Golan Heights and Lebanon on Damascus, prompting the activation of air defense systems. Syria, along with other Shia militias and political groups, is part of the Iran-led ‘Axis of Resistance’ against Israel and the US in the region.

Iraq stated that it is ensuring the safety of civil aviation in its airspace and decided to close the skies following the attacks. The prohibition of airspace after attacks is a standard procedure for security reasons to prevent enemy aircraft intrusion and facilitate the identification of friendly aircraft by air defense systems.

‘Will Face Proportional Reaction’

The tensions remain high in the region as Iran declares readiness to respond to any Israeli aggression.

Iran is prepared to deliver a proportional response to any Israeli actions, as reported by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency. The agency quoted sources stating, “There is no doubt that Israel will face a proportional reaction for any action it takes.”

The Israeli army has cautioned Iran that it will face severe consequences if a new round of escalation begins. Iran mentioned that the attack resulted in “limited damage”.

The United States acknowledged being informed about the impending strike, although no US personnel or assets were involved. Sean Savett, spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, described Israel’s actions as “self-defense and in response to Iran’s ballistic missile attack against Israel.”

“We urge Iran to halt its attacks on Israel to end this cycle of conflict without further escalation,” stated US National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett.
