In a rather theatrical display of self-aggrandizement, Donald Trump continues to bestow upon himself imaginary accolades while branding his name on every conceivable structure. This obsession seems less like a benign desire to cement a legacy and more like a frantic attempt to rewrite history from the comfort of the Oval Office.
However, Trump’s presidency is not merely failing in the usual partisan sense; it has plummeted to a staggering level of disapproval that resonates with a significant portion of the American populace. A new CNN poll reveals that 58% of respondents characterize Trumpâs first year of his second term as a failure.
What’s particularly noteworthy is not just the failure itself, but the depth of the discontent being expressed.
Trumpâs approval ratings are strikingly low across all facets of his presidential duties. In fact, he has yet to register a positive approval rating on any major issue.
To illustrate this point, here are a few telling statistics from CNN:
A substantial 55% of respondents believe that Trumpâs policies have negatively impacted the economy, while only 32% feel they have made things better. A notable 64% argue that he hasnât done enough to alleviate the rising costs of everyday goods. Alarmingly, even within his own party, nearly half of GOP voters feel he should be more proactiveâthis includes 42% of those who identify with the âMake America Great Againâ movement.
The public’s trust in Trumpâs priorities has also waned significantly; only 36% now assert that he is aligned with their interests, down from 45% at the start of his term. Furthermore, just a third of Americans believe Trump genuinely cares about people like them, marking the lowest rating of his political career.
While these statistics paint a bleak picture, a deeper analysis reveals that the situation is even more dire than it appears.
