The iconic Christmas movie Love Actually has been a holiday staple for many, but one character that often gets a bad rap is Mia, the devilishly hot assistant who steals Alan Rickman away from Emma Thompson. However, it’s important to remember that Rickman’s character is the one who made marriage vows, not Mia. And let’s not forget, Mia was undeniably chic!

While Mia may receive a lot of hate, the true villain of this Christmas classic is Mark, the cucked bro who harbors a sad crush on Keira Knightley. Mark goes to great lengths to hide his feelings, even going so far as to be mean to Knightley in an attempt to cover up his true emotions. The scene where he declares his love for her through cue cards while she’s at home with her husband on Christmas Eve is cringe-worthy and definitely not romantic. It’s time to say “enough now” to this behavior.

Moving on to another holiday film, The Family Stone, where Meredith Morton, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, is often seen as the antagonist. While some argue that Rachel McAdams’ character is the true villain, Meredith’s boring and toxic personality throughout the movie makes her the standout antagonist. Her only topics of conversation are her work trips to Hong Kong and her casual homophobia, making her unrelatable and unlikable. However, when she lets loose and starts having fun with the dysfunctional family, she becomes more endearing.

In The Holiday, Jasper Bloom is another character who can be considered a villain. His manipulative behavior towards Cameron Diaz’s character and his inability to commit make him a problematic love interest. Despite his charming exterior, Jasper’s actions reveal his true colors, making him a character to watch out for.

Overall, these holiday movies may be filled with love and cheer, but they also have their fair share of villainous characters. It’s important to recognize and acknowledge their flaws, as they add depth and complexity to the stories we love to watch year after year.
