NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution has achieved a major milestone by selling the thrilling series “The Day of the Jackal,” starring Eddie Redmayne, to nearly 200 territories worldwide. The show made its U.K. premiere in London on Tuesday to great anticipation.
This series, which garnered significant attention during the L.A. Screenings in May, has quickly become a hot commodity among international buyers. The sales of the show exclude the U.S., where Peacock already holds the rights, and several European territories where Sky is the rightsholder.
Among the impressive list of buyers are prominent platforms such as Foxtel’s Binge and Showcase channel in Australia, Corus’ Showcase and StackTV in Canada, Amazon Prime Video in France, JioCinema in India, Wowow in Japan, TVNZ and TVNZ+ in New Zealand, Wavve in South Korea, Showmax and M-Net in Sub-Saharan Africa, OSN+ and OSN in UAE and the Middle East and North Africa, and SkyShowtime across multiple European territories.
In “The Day of the Jackal,” Eddie Redmayne portrays a highly elusive assassin known as the Jackal, who is challenged by a tenacious British intelligence officer, played by Lashana Lynch. The series follows their thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
The U.S. premiere of the series is set for Nov. 14 on Peacock, with the first five episodes releasing initially followed by weekly episodes and a double-episode finale on Dec. 12. The U.K. launch will take place on Sky on Nov. 7.
The series is written and executive produced by Ronan Bennett, with Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant serving as executive producers for Carnival Films, along with Sam Hoyle for Sky Studios, Sue Naegle, director Brian Kirk, and Redmayne. Lynch also serves as a co-executive producer, with Chris Hall as producer and Frederick Forsyth as a consulting producer.
The stellar cast of the series includes Redmayne, Lynch, and Úrsula Corberó, supported by Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi, and Florisa Kamara.
