Charlotte Eskildsen Presents a Collection Inspired by Private Spaces and Purposeful Lives
Charlotte Eskildsen’s latest collection was born out of the idea of having a personal space to work and live purposefully. The designer found inspiration in images of women at their workspaces, leading her to explore the connection between ambition, personal style, and productivity.
This season, Eskildsen showcased a collection that exuded confidence and maturity. The casting of models hinted at a mother-daughter relationship, but it was the mother figure who stole the spotlight with her self-assured presence. Interestingly, Eskildsen’s daughter, a student of social science and math, recently completed a thesis on the representation of women in leadership positions, revealing that there is still progress to be made in achieving gender equality.
To address this issue, Eskildsen created pieces that played with the concepts of power and comfort. Bold shoulders on leather jackets symbolized strength, while corporate-inspired pinstripes were reimagined into roomy pants and suits with feminine twists. Details like lingerie-style backs on vests and pants pocket effects on coats added a playful touch to the collection.
The collection also delved into the power of seduction, with slip tops layered over lightweight turtlenecks and fil coupe pants creating a sensual allure. Airy blouses and ivory cable knit sweaters with open backs and bow ties added a touch of sophistication and femininity to the looks. A faux fur coat in a bathrobe shape evoked a sense of comfort and intimacy, reminiscent of the solitude one might experience while working at a home desk, a scenario that would surely resonate with Virginia Woolf.
