Right from the start, William Fan has always marched to the beat of his own drum. After the grandeur of his 10th-anniversary show last season, which was a tough act to follow in terms of size and spectacle, Fan decided it was time for a change of pace. “I knew I couldn’t top our last show, so I took some time to reflect, relax, and focus on the finer details. That’s how the concept for this collection was born,” explained Fan. The spring of 2026 was all about leisure time—taking a moment to slow down and appreciate the little nuances in his signature silhouettes. Intriguing bags made of knotted ceramic beads and unconventional cuts beckoned for a closer inspection. To highlight the leisurely theme, guests were treated to ice cream and encouraged to send postcards to their loved ones.

Fan’s summer collection exudes a surprising lightness—both in weight and spirit—with his own innovative pleats, hidden smiley faces, and a palette of refreshing colors (by Berlin standards). True to form, the designer collaborated closely with his inner circle, including his parents, who are a mainstay in the front row of his shows. “I never experienced my parents in a leisurely context growing up because they were always working so hard,” Fan revealed. “This collection, centered around the art of doing nothing, is a tribute to them as they now embrace retirement and savor their newfound leisure time.” An extended family vacation is on the horizon as a celebration of this new chapter.
