The Paper: A New Mockumentary Series Coming to Peacock
The highly anticipated mockumentary series “The Paper” is set to premiere on Peacock. A follow-up to the beloved show “The Office,” the first four episodes will debut on Sept. 4, with two new episodes releasing every Thursday through Sept. 25.
“The Paper” follows a documentary crew as they shift their focus from Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch to a historic Midwestern newspaper and its determined publisher.
The star-studded cast includes Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Oscar Nuñez reprising his role from “The Office,” Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.
In a sneak peek trailer, it’s revealed that the series is set in the offices of the Toledo Truth-Teller, where Oscar (Nuñez) now works as an accountant. Impacciatore portrays the managing editor, while Gleeson plays an enthusiastic new employee.
Greg Daniels and Michael Koman co-created “The Paper,” with executive producers including Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas. Universal Television is the studio behind the series.
“The Office” was set in Scranton, Penn., and featured an ensemble cast including Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms, Mindy Kaling, and B.J. Novak. The show continues to be a fan favorite, even after its conclusion, and has gained a new following through streaming services.
