Former President Trump’s peculiar fixation on Greenland has become a point of international ridicule. This obsession is hardly bolstered by the fact that the small population of Greenland has repeatedly made a mockery of Trump and his vice president, expressing their disdain for any notion of U.S. ownership through various protests.
In a recent social media post, Katie Miller, wife of Stephen Miller, shared an image on X that has drawn further scrutiny:
This post could be interpreted as a reflection of the broader delusions that seem to characterize the current administration’s worldview, given its track record of failure.

Greenlanders are taking the Trump administration’s threats seriously, especially in light of past actions such as the invasion of Venezuela, which demonstrated a blatant disregard for sovereignty and self-determination.
What lies beneath Trump’s desire for Greenland is a quest for its rare earth minerals—an objective cloaked in the flimsy justification of national defense. The United States already possesses the most formidable military in history; Greenland’s strategic importance is a mere distraction from its mineral wealth.
Similarly, Trump’s interest in Venezuela is primarily driven by its oil, despite the resource’s questionable quality and the long timeline required to develop the necessary infrastructure for profitable extraction.
In essence, the administration’s aim for Greenland is less about defense and more about exploitation, a sentiment that the people of Greenland are decidedly against.
In response to Miller’s post, Greenland’s Premier, Jens Frederik Nielsen, calmly articulated his stance:
Let me state this calmly and clearly from the outset: there is neither reason for panic nor for concern.
The image shared by Katie Miller, depicting Greenland wrapped in an American flag, changes nothing whatsoever.
Our country is not for sale, and our future is not decided by social media posts. That said, the image is disrespectful.
