Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been making headlines recently, with rumors swirling about a potential move to the Saudi Pro League. Broadcaster and former footballer Ian Paul Joy believes that Salah could be an even bigger signing for the league than Cristiano Ronaldo, citing the Egyptian winger’s connection in the region and his undeniable quality on the field.

Salah’s future at Liverpool has been in doubt after he publicly criticized the club and head coach Arne Slot for benching him in three consecutive games. This has fueled speculation that he could be on his way out of Anfield in the January transfer window, with the Saudi Pro League being a potential destination.

Ian Paul Joy expressed his belief that if a bid were to come in for Salah, Liverpool would likely accept it. He emphasized Salah’s ability to connect with the people in the region due to the language he speaks and his status as a world footballing icon. Joy went on to suggest that Salah could be a bigger signing for the Saudi Pro League than Cristiano Ronaldo, given his profile and influence both locally and globally.

Reports have emerged that Al-Ittihad made a substantial bid of £150 million for Salah in 2023, but Liverpool turned it down. Nevertheless, speculation continues to swirl around Salah’s future, especially with the success of Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League earlier this year.

Saudi Arabia’s minister of sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, has also weighed in on the possibility of Salah joining the league. He described Salah as a superstar and an iconic Arab Muslim who would fit well in the Saudi league’s identity. While Salah recently signed a contract extension with Liverpool until 2027, the minister hinted at ongoing discussions about potentially bringing him to Saudi Arabia.

Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to the Saudi Pro League, the league has seen an influx of top-tier talent, with players like Neymar Jr. and Karim Benzema also making the move. The league’s growing popularity and the success of high-profile signings have made it an attractive destination for players looking for a new challenge.

In conclusion, Mohamed Salah’s potential move to the Saudi Pro League could be a game-changer for both the player and the league. With his star power, on-field skills, and connection to the region, Salah has the potential to make a significant impact and further elevate the league’s profile on the global stage. Only time will tell if Salah will make the move and follow in the footsteps of other footballing legends who have found success in the Saudi Pro League.
