Vatican technicians are currently fortifying what will soon be known as the world’s most stunning stronghold, ensuring that the confidentiality of the Sistine Chapel remains intact.

It’s a meeting of Michelangelo and James Bond.

Tomorrow, 133 cardinals under 80 will gather in the chapel adorned with Michelangelo’s frescoes for a secret conclave to elect the next Catholic pope.

They will walk on a newly installed elevated floor, creating a seamless platform with the altar base, which is higher than the rest of the chapel.

There are speculations about what lies beneath this temporary floor, including possible jamming devices. The details are kept secret, with contradictory statements from Vatican officials.

Additional security measures include film on windows to block drone cameras, special tiles to block cellphone signals, and a potential Faraday cage for enhanced communication security.

Cellphone towers in Vatican City will be deactivated until the new pope is announced, and other security measures are in place to ensure the cardinals’ privacy during the voting process.

The cardinals will be housed in the Santa Marta residence, which has undergone security sweeps, and a protective envelope will be maintained around them at all times.

Staff members have taken an oath of secrecy, with the penalty of automatic excommunication for any breaches.
