“The View” Soars in Ratings Following Election Results

Last week, the hosts of “The View” were clearly impacted by the election results, and it seems their viewers were as well. The daytime talk show saw its best week-long ratings in over three and a half years, with an average of 3.078 million viewers tuning in during the week of Nov. 4. This made it the number one show among daytime network talk and news shows, according to ABC analysis of Nielsen data.

The standout episode was on Wednesday, Nov. 6, the day after the election, where “The View” attracted a whopping 4.470 million viewers. This marked the show’s most-watched episode since Barbara Walters’ farewell episode in 2014.

On that particular episode, hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, and Alyssa Farah Griffin reacted to Donald Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. The atmosphere was filled with concern and fear, with Hostin expressing that she was “profoundly disturbed” by the news.

The week of Nov. 4 also saw “The View” ranking number one in households with a 2.07 rating. Additionally, the show averaged 270,000 women aged 25-54 and 193,000 women aged 18-49, according to Nielsen’s live+same day data.

In terms of viewership, “The View” outperformed NBC’s “Today Third Hour,” “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” and “NBC News Daily,” as well as CBS’ “The Talk.” The show saw a 14% increase in total viewers, a 21% increase in women aged 25-54, and a 22% increase in women aged 18-49 week-to-week, reaching season highs for the second consecutive week.
