Art advisor Nikeyu Callaway and James Augustine, who attended boarding school together in upstate New York, never imagined they would end up getting married. After reconnecting years later, they found themselves falling in love and bonding over their shared love of city and country life, as well as their families’ artistic backgrounds.
Nikeyu had a feeling that James was going to propose during a sunset walk on the beach in the Hamptons with their dogs Maggie and Bear. As they walked, a photographer appeared, and James got down on one knee to propose. Maggie, their English Springer Spaniel, added to the excitement by running around and playing in the ocean. Nikeyu’s engagement ring, an heirloom cushion-cut Graff ring set in gold, became the first “something old” she would wear at their wedding.
Finding the perfect wedding dress was a bit overwhelming for Nikeyu. After trying on several dresses, she found the perfect fit at Monique Lhuillier’s store. Initially choosing a gown with a rose print and bubble hem for their backyard wedding upstate, they later decided to change the venue to The Bridge, a golf course near Nikeyu’s father’s home in the Hamptons. To match the new venue’s vibe, Nikeyu customized the dress with a classic white color, a sweetheart neckline bust, convertible skirt, and cap sleeves.
Their love story is a testament to unexpected beginnings and finding happiness in unexpected places. The wedding at The Bridge was a beautiful celebration of their love, blending their unique styles and personalities seamlessly. Nikeyu and James’s journey from high school friends to life partners is a true testament to the power of love and fate.
