Cherie Currie, once the electrifying lead vocalist of the 1970s hard rock band The Runaways, which notably helped launch Joan Jett’s career, has undergone a significant political metamorphosis. While she continues to delight fans with her performances, Currie has recently embraced the MAGA movement and conservative ideology.

Currie’s political evolution has been brewing for some time. According to a report by the Western Journal from nearly a year ago:

Decades ago, the punk ethos was synonymous with cross-dressing, tattoos, and anti-establishment protests. Fast forward to today, and those very sentiments have become woven into the fabric of mainstream politics.
Best known for her role as the teenage frontwoman of a band that included a youthful Joan Jett, Currie personified the rebellious spirit of her era, often performing in provocative outfits and belting out suggestive lyrics long before it was commonplace. Now, however, she has taken to social media to lambast the Democratic Party, which she once supported, with a passionate tirade against the very left-wing ideologies she once championed.
