A tragic incident unfolded in the Bronx on Wednesday night, as a man reportedly shot and killed his mother and stepfather before taking his own life just steps away from a daycare facility. The scene was described by neighbors and police sources, with three people found dead from gunshot wounds to the head around 9 p.m. on Southern Boulevard near Prospect Avenue.

Photos from the scene showed bodybags being removed from a home, along with a gun next to a large pool of blood outside. Law enforcement sources confirmed that a man and woman were pronounced dead inside the apartment, both having suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head. The man had also been shot multiple times in the body.

The suspected gunman was discovered outside in the hallway with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Despite being taken to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Reports indicated that the younger man was found with a gun next to him, further confirming the nature of the tragic event.

According to a neighbor, the gunman was the son of the female victim, and the three individuals lived together in close proximity to a daycare center. The neighbor recounted hearing three gunshots and witnessing the aftermath, describing the harrowing scene of the man sitting against the steps with a portion of his head severely injured. The neighbor also mentioned hearing a female voice screaming on the phone for several hours following the incident.

Concerns about the safety of the neighborhood were raised, with allegations of mistreatment by the stepfather towards the gunman. The neighbor shared fears for her own child’s safety, highlighting the prevalence of crime in the area. The tragedy forced the closure of the adjacent daycare center, with Halloween celebrations for the children canceled to shield them from the distressing scene.

The daycare owner expressed shock and sorrow over the incident, emphasizing the impact on the emotional well-being of the children and staff. The sense of disbelief was echoed by a long-time employee, who remarked on the unprecedented nature of such violence in the neighborhood. As the investigation into the triple tragedy continues, no arrests have been made as of Thursday morning. The community grapples with the aftermath of the shocking event, as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the double murder-suicide.
