A tragic incident has shocked the social media world as Maurice Harrison, a TikTok star known as the “wig influencer,” was shot dead by her longtime boyfriend in Florida. The heartbreaking incident occurred in Lauderdale Lakes after the couple got into a heated argument inside the boyfriend’s car.

Maurice Harrison, 21, who was popularly known as @Girlalala on social media, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside the passenger seat of a vehicle on Friday at around 7 p.m. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, she was pronounced dead. The Broward Sheriff’s Office released a statement confirming the unfortunate event.

The suspect in this case is Shanoyd Whyte Jr., Harrison’s boyfriend of seven years. He was arrested at the scene, where authorities also recovered a firearm. According to investigators, the couple had a verbal argument that turned physical inside Whyte Jr.’s vehicle, leading to the fatal shooting of Harrison.

Surveillance footage captured the moments before the tragic incident, showing Whyte Jr. stepping out of his car with a gun as Harrison leaned out of the passenger door. He then pushed her back inside before the fatal shot was fired. Whyte Jr., 25, a former football player at Bethune-Cookman University, is currently held without bond at Broward County Jail, facing a first-degree murder charge with a firearm.

Harrison, a hairstylist from Pompano Beach, Florida, had a significant following on social media, with over 235,000 TikTok followers before her account was deactivated. Her Instagram page, with over 41,000 followers, showcased her colorful and creative hairstyles, earning her the title of “wig influencer.”

In the wake of this tragic event, a GoFundMe page was set up by Harrison’s family to cover her funeral expenses. City Girls rapper JT made a generous donation of $5,000 and paid a heartfelt tribute to Harrison on Instagram, sharing a clip of them having fun together at a nightclub. JT expressed her grief and highlighted Harrison’s boldness, energy, humor, and beauty.

The rapper also called for support to protect trans women and black women, emphasizing the importance of feminism in society. Past videos circulated by fans suggested a tumultuous and toxic relationship between Harrison and Whyte Jr., raising questions about the dynamics of their partnership.

If found guilty of first-degree murder with a firearm, Whyte Jr. could face severe penalties under Florida law, including the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole. The tragic death of Maurice Harrison has left a void in the social media community, with fans mourning the loss of the vibrant and talented “wig influencer.”
