Amazon Prime Video’s “Tomb Raider” Series Gears Up for Production with New Cast Addition
With the announcement of Sophie Turner as the lead playing Lara Croft in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming “Tomb Raider” series, the cast continues to expand as production is set to begin in January.
Adding to the lineup is Martin Bobb-Semple, known for his role in The CW’s “All American: Homecoming,” who will be joining the series in a significant role. While specific details about his character are being kept under wraps, it is confirmed that he will be a series regular and play a major part in the Londoner’s career.
The series, based on the popular video game franchise, is being spearheaded by creator, writer, and executive producer Phoebe Waller–Bridge. Chad Hodge will serve as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Waller-Bridge, with Jonathan van Tulleken on board as director and executive producer. Filming is scheduled to commence on January 19.
Bobb-Semple’s previous work includes his role as Orlando “Lando” Johnson in “All American: Homecoming,” where he started as a recurring character and was later promoted to a series regular. He has also appeared in Peacock’s “One of Us is Lying” and Netflix’s “Free Reign.” The talented actor began his career in London’s West End and trained at the Identity School of Acting before landing his first TV role for the BBC.
Executive produced by Crystal Dynamics, the “Tomb Raider” series boasts a strong lineup of producers including Waller-Bridge, Jenny Robins, Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, Michael Scheel, Hodge, and van Tulleken. The show is a collaborative effort between Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics, and Amazon MGM Studios, with Waller-Bridge currently under an overall deal at Amazon MGM Studios.
This project was developed as part of a partnership between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios under Story Kitchen’s first-look deal to bring “Tomb Raider” stories to life in both series and films.
Bobb-Semple is represented by Identity Agency Group, showcasing his talent and potential in the industry.
