Cote de Pablo, known for her role in the hit show “NCIS,” recently revealed in an interview with TV Insider that she declined the offer to use an intimacy coordinator while filming the upcoming franchise sequel series “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” with her co-star Michael Weatherly. The two actors, who were series regulars on the original “NCIS” series for 12 seasons, share a strong bond and trust with each other, making the need for an intimacy coordinator unnecessary.
De Pablo explained, “Michael and I have a lot of trust with each other and are great friends. So, when it comes to shooting these things we don’t want to be micromanaged. We like to explore it, and we trust each other enough that we allow that to happen.” Weatherly also expressed his support for De Pablo’s decision, stating, “Love scenes are complicated because that level of nonverbal communication is a deep level of communication. Physical interaction starts with trust. Luckily, Cote and I do not have an issue in that area.”
“Tony & Ziva” marks the return of De Pablo and Weatherly to the “NCIS” franchise. It is also Weatherly’s first major series regular role since his time on CBS’ “Bull,” which faced controversy when co-star Eliza Dushku accused him of sexual harassment. Dushku received a $9.5 million settlement from CBS after alleging that Weatherly made inappropriate comments towards her on the set of “Bull.”
Fans of the “NCIS” franchise can look forward to the premiere of “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” on September 3rd, with the first three episodes set to debut on Paramount+. The series promises to bring back the beloved characters of Tony and Ziva in a new and exciting storyline.
