Chicago Police Issue Community Alert After Series of Work Truck Thefts on North Side

Chicago police have issued a community alert after a recent string of early morning and evening burglaries targeting work vans across the North Side this week. The thieves have been using cutting tools or saws to break through the exterior locks of unoccupied work vans, quickly transferring tools into an awaiting vehicle before making a speedy getaway. Surveillance video from one of the incidents, released by the department, shows two individuals raiding a van in broad daylight, seemingly unconcerned about the witnesses passing by.

The incidents have been reported to occur within minutes of each other, with break-ins happening at various locations, including the 2300 block of West Cullom on November 25 at 8:18 a.m., the 4500 block of North Seeley on November 25 at 8:30 a.m., the 4000 block of North Clarendon on November 25 at 7:00 p.m., the 2000 block of West Barry on November 26 at 8:41 a.m., and several other locations.

The offenders have been described as two Black males wearing dark clothing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Area Three detectives at 312-744-8263 or submit an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com using reference number P25-3-052.

This series of work truck thefts has raised concerns among residents and business owners in the area. It serves as a reminder for individuals to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect their property. The police alert serves as a warning to the community to be on the lookout for suspicious activity and report any relevant information to law enforcement.
