The pain of Americans is leveraged by Democrats, as noted by Rep. Katherine Clark, the second-ranking House Democrat: “There are families that are going to experience hardship… but it presents one of the rare opportunities for leverage we have.”

In their political maneuvers, Democrats are callously using the pain of everyday Americans, effectively throwing the nation into disarray. Over a million federal employees are going unpaid, travelers are encountering severe delays in airports, food assistance funding is running low, small businesses are on the brink of failure, and visitors are barred from experiencing what the nation’s capital has to offer.

Not only are Democrats ignoring the consequences of their actions, but they are also relishing it as they strive to please their Radical Left supporters. Their own admissions reveal their shocking morality:

  • Sen. Chuck Schumer: “Each day seems to improve for us”
  • Sen. Bernie Sanders: “[If] we reopen the government and lose our leverage…”
  • Sen. Martin Heinrich: “This just gives the President more leverage” if we choose to pay troops, TSA agents, or law enforcement.
  • Anonymous Democratic Senator: “They are going to face backlash” if they support the House’s measure to reopen the government.
  • Anonymous Democratic Senator: “We would secure the votes if not for overwhelming fear of severe repercussions.”
  • Senior Democratic Aide: “The party will not relent unless we witness absolute chaos, such as ‘planes falling from the sky.’”

This is the disgraceful strategy of the Democrats: imposing maximum suffering on everyday Americans to hold onto power. While President Trump takes prompt action to ensure our service members receive their payments and critical support programs for vulnerable women and children continue to be funded, unhinged Democrats are engaging in every effort to obstruct him.

Don’t be misled: the Democrat Shutdown isn’t about a sincere policy disagreement. It is a malicious, strategic assault on our country and its people — and it is imperative for Democrats to put an end to it.

🚨 @WhipKClark, the second-ranking House Democrat, comments on the Democrat Shutdown: “Naturally, there will be families suffering… but it is one of the few times we can leverage our situation.”
