Tory Lanez, a popular rapper, recently made headlines after he was allegedly attacked and stabbed by fellow inmate Santino Casio in prison. Casio, who is currently serving a life sentence for a murder charge, has a history of violent incidents behind bars.
The incident took place at the California Correctional Institution (CCI) in Tehachapi, where Tory was reportedly attacked around 7:20 AM on Monday morning. Prison staff immediately responded, provided medical aid to Tory, and then transferred him to a hospital for further treatment. According to Tory’s camp, he sustained 14 stab wounds and suffered collapsed lungs as a result of the attack.
Casio, the alleged attacker, has been placed in restricted housing pending an investigation. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for second-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, personal use of a deadly weapon, and inflicting great bodily injury. Additionally, while incarcerated, Casio was sentenced to six years for assaulting a prisoner with a deadly weapon and two years for possession/manufacture of a deadly weapon by a prisoner.
Tory Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, is currently serving time for shooting Megan Thee Stallion’s feet in 2020 after a party at Kylie Jenner’s house in the Hollywood Hills.
