A property owner in Hanson, Massachusetts received a cease-and-desist letter from the town officials for projecting a “Trump 2024” sign onto a municipal water tower. The town of Hanson clarified that it does not endorse political candidates or allow political signs on municipal property.

Hanson Town Administrator, Lisa Green, stated that the town discovered the resident projecting the political sign on October 11th. Green emphasized that this action misleads the public into thinking it is authorized by the town.

To deter the activity, the town has imposed a daily fine of $100 until the projection is stopped. The fines have been accumulating, with additional costs incurred by the Highway Department for positioning a spotlight on the tower to obscure the projection at night.

Officials expressed concerns about the potential expenses incurred by the resident’s actions, including attorney fees, overtime for workers, and the need to rent or purchase stronger lighting equipment. The $100 daily fine is unlikely to cover these costs, according to town officials.
