Travis Barker: From Finish Line to Drum Line…
Travis Barker is putting us all to shame with his incredible athleticism. Just days before turning 50, he not only ran a 5k but also performed for a packed crowd all before lunch on a Sunday. TMZ obtained video footage of the drummer running his personal best time of 19 minutes and 14 seconds before shutting down the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica for the hyped-up brunch crowd.
Fellow Blink-182 band member Mark Hoppus and UFC Champion Chito Vera were also on hand to show their support for Travis. It’s clear that Travis is in the best shape of his life as he approaches his 50th birthday. In fact, Travis started “Run Travis Run” – a run and wellness experience – after surviving a plane crash in 2008 that left 70 percent of his body burned.
On the organization’s website, Travis writes, “I was told by doctors that I may never be able to walk or play drums the same again. I was never athletic and I never played sports but I immediately had this urge to prove everyone wrong including myself.” Now, Travis runs 3 miles a day, even before shows when he’s on tour.
“I wanna motivate people to get outside and walk or run for a few hours, as well as make healthy decisions and create healthy habits,” Travis writes. His determination and commitment to fitness are truly inspiring.
And if that wasn’t impressive enough, Travis did all of this after being out late at his mother-in-law Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party in Beverly Hills. It’s clear that Travis Barker is a man who truly does it all. We can all take a page out of his book and strive to be as active and dedicated to our health as he is.
