Reports have surfaced linking one of the illegal migrants involved in the killing of a Mexican border agent to the violent Venezuelan prison gang, Tren de Aragua. The immigration official, Luis Alberto Olivas GarcÃa, was brutally attacked with a rock by a group of three migrants at a checkpoint in Chihuahua on Dec. 30.
The group, consisting of two Venezuelan nationals and a Columbian national, allegedly assaulted Olivas GarcÃa after he approached them at the border from El Paso, Texas. One of the Venezuelan migrants reportedly used a rock to fatally strike the federal agent in the head.
Authorities disclosed that one of the accused migrant killers had tattoos associated with Tren de Aragua, a notorious gang with a presence in at least 19 US states. The information has been shared with relevant agencies for further investigation.
The incident occurred amidst reports of Tren de Aragua gang members crossing the border into El Paso and posing a threat to US troops. Recent attempts by Venezuelan gang members to breach the border with weapons have raised concerns among law enforcement.
The gang’s criminal activities have extended into the US, with some members linked to high-profile crimes involving migrants. The situation has escalated as the incoming administration prepares for a crackdown on immigration.
Law enforcement agencies are on high alert as they monitor the activities of Tren de Aragua and its members, who continue to pose a threat to border security and public safety.
