Tristan Thompson is known for protecting the net on the basketball court, but he has now ventured into delivering internet connectivity to unconnected people worldwide!
TMZ Sports has learned that the 34-year-old Thompson has secured a high-ranking position at telecommunications company World Mobile, where he will serve as Chief Digital Equity Officer.
Thompson’s involvement with World Mobile goes beyond being a spokesperson. He is genuinely passionate about the company’s mission of connecting people worldwide, especially those in underserved communities, with internet access.
Internet access is considered a luxury in many parts of the world. A significant portion of the global population is unable to connect due to the lack of profitability for providers in rural or developing areas.
World Mobile aims to revolutionize how internet services are delivered to customers.
Instead of traditional expensive infrastructure, World Mobile utilizes a peer-to-peer network model, allowing ordinary individuals to host AirNodes and expand the network reach.
As part of his new role at World Mobile, Thompson is launching the “Community Connectivity Fund,” a multimillion-dollar initiative aimed at improving infrastructure and implementing pilot programs globally.
Juggling between preparing for his 14th NBA season as a free agent, his role at World Mobile, and partnerships with Artificial Intelligence companies, Tristan Thompson is establishing himself as one of the most industrious figures in professional sports.
Aside from his basketball career and involvement with World Mobile, Thompson is also engaged in partnerships with two Artificial Intelligence companies, including TracyAI, as previously reported.
