Trump Calls Nonprofit ‘TREASONISTS’ After Blocking White House Ballroom

In a recent Truth Social post, Donald Trump expressed strong disapproval of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, accusing them of being ‘TREASONISTS.’ This came after the organization filed a lawsuit against his administration over a planned ballroom construction project. The National Trust maintained that the project required congressional approval, and an appeals court supported this view, temporarily halting the construction.

Trump’s post stated, “These are the TREASONISTS that brought the suit against the Military Complex. They revealed Top Military Secrets!” He criticized the name of the organization, claiming that adding ‘in the United States’ to their title misleadingly suggests it is a governmental agency, which it is not. He further alleged that the U.S. government ceased funding the organization in 2005 due to disagreements over their mission. Trump argued that their actions hinder many worthwhile projects and harm others.

Trump emphasized that the ballroom project is crucial for White House security. He argued that the construction is essential for the safety of current and future U.S. presidents, their families, staff, and cabinet members. He insisted that all parts of the project are interdependent, noting, “The lower section does not work without the upper section and, likewise, the upper section does not work without the lower. It is all one highly integrated unit,” Trump stated.

Trump alleged that the National Trust for Historic Preservation was cautioned by the military not to proceed with the lawsuit due to the sensitive nature of the project. “They were asked by the United States Military not to bring this suit because of the Top Secret nature of the important facility being built,” he explained. Trump claimed that military and Secret Service leaders had shown the organization detailed plans of the project. Nevertheless, he suggested that the group was not dissuaded due to what he described as ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome,’ a term he attributed to Democrat Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania.

Trump also targeted Carol Quillen, who was involved in the lawsuit as the president of the National Trust. He criticized her lack of experience in Historic Preservation and noted that she has been unanimously replaced.
