Donald Trump is seeking $1 billion from American taxpayers to fund his ballroom project.

According to NOTUS, the White House is exerting pressure on Senators to approve funding for the ballroom. “The White House’s pressure campaign is accelerating before the Senate presents its budget reconciliation bill as early as next week — even as Republicans work to patch the other provisions that got “Byrd bathed” last night.”

The White House is actively lobbying Republicans to support a vote that could be politically damaging, as the ballroom was initially intended to be privately financed without taxpayer contributions.

Earlier this week, Senate Majority Leader John Thune reported to the media, “20% of that is going to secure the modernization of the East Wing. Most of it’s going to be used for other purposes.”

Despite Trump’s claims that the entire sum is for ballroom security, only 20% is allocated for Secret Service security measures in the ballroom.

Questions arise about the allocation of the remaining 80% of the funding, which is not designated for security.

Additionally, concerns persist regarding the fate of private donations purportedly raised for the ballroom. What will happen to those funds?

Republicans are cautious about supporting Trump’s ballroom funding, fearing it could lead to a flood of negative campaign ads against them, making them hesitant to proceed.
