Chicago police have reported that a suspect has been apprehended following a stabbing incident outside a Walgreens at a busy intersection in the Loop on Thursday night.
The victim, a 25-year-old man, was outside the store on the 100 block of North State Street when he engaged a group of men in conversation, leading to an argument around 9:16 p.m., as stated by the police. During the altercation, someone from the group stabbed him in the back and then fled the scene.
The injured man was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and is in serious condition.
Shortly afterward, a CPD bike patrol unit identified a 36-year-old man matching the suspect’s description at Randolph and LaSalle. He was arrested after witnesses confirmed he was the attacker, according to an initial police report. As of Friday morning, charges were pending.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.
Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
