President Trump and first lady Melania participated in a Halloween celebration at the White House, handing out chocolate to costumed children just hours after returning from a trip to Asia. The president seemed unfazed by the 41 hours of travel aboard Air Force One, covering 20,027 miles. The Trumps greeted trick-or-treaters under the South Portico, where the US Air Force Strolling Strings band played “Thriller.”
Among the guests were military families, law enforcement families, and Trump administration officials with children, dressed in popular costumes like superheroes, princesses, and ghosts. The Trumps interacted with siblings dressed as Secret Service agents, the president, and the first lady. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller also joined in the festivities with their families.
Notable costumes included a boy dressed as a filthy toilet and a family who transformed their wagon into a McDonald’s drive-thru. The Halloween event is an annual tradition at the White House, with past memorable moments like former President Joe Biden playfully pretending to bite infants in costume.
In a nod to a previous Halloween moment, President Trump playfully placed a candy bar on the head of a child with flat headgear this year. The festive atmosphere at the White House welcomed hundreds of children from various backgrounds to enjoy the Halloween celebration.
