Sebastian Gorka, serving as a senior director for counterterrorism under Donald Trump’s administration, revealed on Wednesday that the president has penned a letter to Vice President JD Vance. This letter details the actions to be taken should Trump be assassinated by a foreign entity.
According to Gorka, this letter is securely stored inside the Resolute Desk located in the Oval Office. He disclosed this during an appearance on Miranda Devine’s New York Post podcast, “Pod Force One.”
The information surfaced after Devine questioned Gorka about his concerns regarding Trump’s safety amid assassination threats during a two-day summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.
Devine suggested that Trump poses “an existential threat” to China and might be a target, possibly through covert means.
Gorka, however, dismissed these concerns.
“Absolutely not. I have no fear at all of them doing something,” he stated confidently.
Watch from the 50-minute point here:
Gorka suggested that global leaders seek Trump’s approval rather than try to undermine him, describing him as “the most powerful individual we have seen since the likes of Eisenhower.”
“Everyone desires to be part of his circle — to have the state dinner, to receive the recognition. Taking actions that would undermine this recognition contradicts their desires,” he elaborated.
Gorka also referenced Trump’s previous warnings to foreign adversaries.
“Recall what the president stated regarding another nation’s attempt to target him. He mentioned, ‘There is a letter in the drawer in the Resolute Desk addressed to the vice president,’ in case something happens to him.”
In February 2025, Trump reportedly instructed his advisers to “obliterate” Iran if they attempted to assassinate him, though he did not mention a specific letter. “I’ve given instructions — if they proceed, they will be obliterated, leaving nothing behind,” Trump informed reporters at the time.
Gorka characterized Trump’s remarks as “the language of power that nations like China, Iran, and Russia understand.”
“For these reasons, I believe the president is quite secure,” he concluded.
Devine later brought up the possibility of a “sneaky” attack by China.
“We have protocols, trust me,” Gorka reassured. “They are not ones I can discuss, but we have protocols.”
