JS has discovered that a website named UK Visa Portal is inadvertently revealing the passport and selfie photos of individuals who have registered and paid for a U.K. immigration visa through the site.

An anonymous source informed JS of the security breach, indicating that the site is exposing over 100,000 documents submitted by applicants during the visa application process.

UK Visa Portal is not connected with the U.K. government, and some users have reported that they mistakenly paid fees to this company rather than utilizing the official GOV.UK website.

JS has confirmed that UK Visa Portal is responsible for the data leak. They verified the authenticity of the exposed information by contacting affected individuals to confirm the accuracy of their data.

The UK Visa Portal website lacks a mechanism for reporting security issues, and it does not list any contact details for the company’s management. JS attempted to notify the company of the ongoing security breach by sending an email to the address provided on the website, seeking to identify a management contact who could address the issue. Due to the sensitive nature of the leaked data, JS refrained from providing specific details through the general customer support channel, as there was no assurance the data would not be misused.

In response, JS received communication from the company’s supposed attorneys and public relations representatives. JS reiterated that, given the sensitive nature of the files, specific details could only be shared directly with the company’s management and requested to be connected with them.

So far, JS has not received any response from UK Visa Portal’s management, and the security issue remains unresolved.

While the problem persists, JS considers it important for users of the company’s services to be aware of the situation. To minimize further risk, JS is withholding precise details of the security breach.

Applicants do not need to use a third-party service for a U.K. electronic travel authorization unless they are employing an immigration attorney. It is advised to apply directly through the U.K. government’s website.
