While it seems illogical, common sense suggests that a Democratic win in the upcoming November elections would render Trump a lame duck, significantly diminishing his power. However, Trump’s desire to remain the central figure in the Republican Party might lead him to prefer the loss of House and Senate majorities.
Such losses would ensure Trump becomes the focal point of his party, satisfying his long-standing desire for attention, especially as the 2026 and 2028 elections approach. It appears Trump may even be willing to risk electoral defeat for his party if it means they comply with his demands.
