Republican leaders, alongside former President Trump, are eager to tout the benefits of tax cuts aimed at the wealthy, claiming transformative effects for the nation. Yet, if this legislation were truly as beneficial as they assert, one would expect a grand signing ceremony, broadcasted in prime time, complete with all Republican members of the House and Senate gathered to witness Trump enact this “landmark” bill.

Such a ceremony would certainly warrant celebration if the legislation were indeed poised to benefit the American populace. However, the choice of timing for the signing raises eyebrows, suggesting that the administration may be less than confident about the bill’s reception. The old adage rings true: actions speak louder than words.

In a recent update, Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News remarked on X, “I am now told that this signing ceremony will be at 5 p.m. tomorrow. Seems like it’s a moving target.”

Scheduling a significant announcement at 5 PM on the Fourth of July seems ill-conceived, to say the least. After all, this holiday is dedicated to celebrating American independence, not unveiling sweeping legislation that could fundamentally alter the lives of citizens.
