Trump Administration to Cancel All Federal Contracts with Harvard University
In a bold move, the Trump administration is reportedly set to cancel all remaining federal contracts with Harvard University. This decision comes on the heels of President Trump’s announcement that he would be pulling $3 billion in grants from the Ivy League school, which he referred to as “very antisemitic.”
The impending cuts amount to approximately $100 million and will be communicated to all federal agencies via a letter scheduled to be dispatched early Tuesday, as per a report by the New York Times citing an administration official.
The letter, signed by the US General Services Administration, mandates the agencies to compile a list of contracts that are to be terminated. Additionally, agencies are instructed to explore alternative vendors for future services that were previously contracted to Harvard.
While the specific agencies affected by these cuts are not yet disclosed, the move is expected to impact nine agencies, as per the administration official.
Thus far, the Trump administration has frozen approximately $3.2 billion in grants and contracts with Harvard University. In a related initiative, the administration is also pushing to remove thousands of foreign students enrolled at the prestigious Ivy League institution.
President Trump’s decision to redirect $3 billion in federal grants from Harvard to trade schools underscores his administration’s commitment to promoting alternative education pathways over what he perceives as a biased and discriminatory university.
