Trump Gains Favor in New Jersey

In an unexpected turn of events, President Trump’s approval ratings are on the rise in the traditionally blue state of New Jersey, where he now enjoys greater popularity than the state’s Democratic Governor, Phil Murphy.

As we look toward the 2024 election cycle, many speculated about the potential for New Jersey to flip from blue to red for the first time in years. Although that did not materialize, Trump’s performance in the state exceeded the expectations of numerous Democrats.

Trump’s surprising showing has prompted Republican activist Scott Presler—known for his role in Pennsylvania’s Republican resurgence—to initiate a campaign aimed at flipping New Jersey red in the 2028 election. Given the current political landscape, this ambition doesn’t seem far-fetched.

Townhall reports:

Trump Surges in Deep-Blue New Jersey as Voters Turn on Democrat Governor

In a notable shift for a state that has historically leaned Democratic, New Jersey voters now view President Donald Trump more favorably than Governor Phil Murphy. Despite years of consistent anti-Trump messaging from both state leaders and media outlets, discontent is bubbling among residents, exacerbated by high taxes, inflation, and rising living costs.

According to a recent Emerson College/Pix 11/The Hill poll, Trump’s approval rating stands at 47 percent among New Jersey voters, with an equal 47 percent disapproving, and six percent remaining undecided. In stark contrast, Murphy is underwater; only 40 percent of voters view him favorably, while 45 percent disapprove, resulting in a net negative rating of five points. An additional 15 percent of respondents did not express a clear opinion.

This polling data is particularly striking considering that Democrats have dominated New Jersey elections since 1992. In the 2020 election, Joe Biden won the state by a substantial 16 points, while Kamala Harris’ victory margin was reduced to just six points—marking the worst performance by the Democratic Party in decades.

This development is certainly noteworthy.
