Time has consistently posed a challenge for Donald Trump. From the moment he re-entered office, his tenure as a term-limited president was on the clock. Trump’s advisers had envisioned a rapid implementation of policies and changes that would overwhelm critics and leave the American public struggling to keep pace.

However, this strategy fell short. For it to succeed, Trump needed to be committed to executing it, but his lack of interest in policy derailed the plan. Instead, the administration brought in Elon Musk and DOGE, causing widespread disruption. Musk’s actions also dismantled some essential government functions, undermining other administrative goals. Coupled with public protests and legal challenges, DOGE’s collapse led Musk to return to the private sector, subsequently fading from the administration’s memory.

Some might argue that deploying ICE on American streets was Trump’s most significant achievement. Yet, this so-called success led to the deaths of innocent Americans and the deportation of innocent immigrants, turning what was once a strong issue for Trump into a vulnerability, weakening the Republican Party.

For over a year, Republicans have voiced concerns that Trump is more focused on altering the White House’s appearance and covering things in gold rather than fulfilling his presidential duties.

Trump has squandered much time, and now he faces the looming conclusion of his presidency. The source of his power is dwindling, underscoring the distinction between merely holding an office and wielding its power.
