The Television Academy has officially announced the calendar for the 2026 Emmy Awards, revealing a new change in how certain category nominations will be unveiled for the upcoming year. While the majority of nominations for the 78th Emmys will still be disclosed on Wednesday, July 8, there will be a delay in announcing the nominations for 14 artisans categories that rely on peer group screening panels. These nominations will now be revealed on Wednesday, July 15.
In addition to this update, the TV Academy has also mentioned that there will be several rule changes for the upcoming Emmy contest, which will be disclosed next week. The full 78th Emmy Rules and Procedures will be released by the end of January.
The 78th Emmy Awards are set to be broadcast live on NBC (and streamed live on Peacock) from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, September 14, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. This marks the final year of the four-network Emmy “wheel deal.”
Furthermore, the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards will take place on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6 at the Peacock Theater.

– Thursday, June 11: Nomination-round voting begins.
– Monday, June 22, 10 p.m.: Nomination-round voting ends.
– June 26 – July 7: Voting for peer group specific top 10 round panels.
– Wednesday, July 8: Nominations announced.
– Wednesday, July 15: Nominations announced for peer group specific top 10 round panels.
– Wednesday, July 22: Deadline for errors and omissions to the nominations.
– Week of Aug. 10: Final-round videos available for viewing.
– Friday, Aug. 14 – Sunday, Aug. 16: Televerse at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live.
– Monday, Aug. 17: Final-round voting begins.
– Wednesday, Aug. 26, 10 p.m.: Final-round voting ends.

The categories that rely on peer group screening panels for nominations include Outstanding Cinematography, Lighting Design, Music Composition, Sound Editing, and Technical Direction.
The nomination process involves voting on all submissions by the Peer Group, followed by the top vote-getters being reviewed by the Peer Group Screening Panel to determine the final nominations. This process ensures a fair and thorough selection of nominees for the Emmy Awards.
