A 7-Time Felon Arrested for Violent Attack on TV Reporter in Chicago

A shocking incident unfolded in the Loop area of Chicago when a 7-time convicted felon, Noah Johnson, violently attacked a television news reporter as she sat in her SUV. The attack was so brutal that passers-by had to intervene to save the victim from further harm.

According to prosecutors, the incident took place around 12:46 p.m. on January 2, in the 200 block of North State Street. Johnson, 43, approached the reporter’s luxury SUV, opened the driver’s door, and without any provocation, started assaulting her. The victim honked her horn in a desperate attempt to attract attention as Johnson punched her in the face and tried to pull her out of the car. The attack was so severe that it dislodged the victim’s salivary gland.

Witnesses in the area heard the commotion and rushed to the scene to help the victim. They managed to pull Johnson off the reporter and prevent him from causing further harm before he fled. The attack was captured on multiple surveillance cameras, leading to a warrant for Johnson’s arrest issued on January 13. He was apprehended recently and is now facing charges of attempted vehicular hijacking, unlawful vehicular invasion, and aggravated battery in a public place.

During a court appearance, Judge James Murphy III ordered Johnson to be held in custody pending trial due to his extensive criminal history. Johnson has seven previous felony convictions, including armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, narcotics offenses, and aggravated battery of a peace officer.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by journalists in the line of duty. It also highlights the importance of community intervention in preventing further harm in such situations.
