The popular series “Twisted Metal” has officially been renewed for a highly anticipated Season 3 on Peacock, according to exclusive reports from Variety. This exciting news comes as fans eagerly await the next chapter in the action-packed show.

One major change coming to Season 3 is the departure of co-creator and showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith. Stepping into his role will be David Reed, who will also serve as the executive producer for the upcoming season. Reed has inked an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, bringing his creative talents to the forefront of the series.

The second season of “Twisted Metal” premiered on Peacock in July and has already garnered an impressive 993 million minutes viewed to date, solidifying its place as one of Peacock’s top returning original scripted seasons. The star-studded cast, including Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa, and Will Arnett, has captivated audiences with their thrilling performances.

Based on the popular Playstation game franchise, “Twisted Metal” follows the journey of John and Quiet as they navigate the treacherous Twisted Metal tournament hosted by the enigmatic Calypso. With dangerous foes and unexpected alliances, the stakes are higher than ever in Season 2.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, along with Reed, will continue to oversee the series as executive producers. The show is a collaborative effort between Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Universal Television, showcasing the best in entertainment talent.

David Reed brings a wealth of experience to the table, with credits on hit shows like “The Boys” and “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.” His diverse background in writing for television, novels, comic books, and video games positions him as a perfect fit for the dynamic world of “Twisted Metal.”
