Tyla, the South African singer known for global hits like “Water” and “Push 2 Start,” made her debut at Coachella last night, marking a significant milestone in her career. In an interview with Vogue, Tyla expressed her excitement about performing at the renowned music festival, something she had always dreamt of. The turnout at her set was overwhelming and heartwarming for the rising star.

For her Coachella performance, Tyla pulled out all the stops to ensure a memorable show. She surprised the audience by bringing out Becky G as a special musical guest and performed a cover of Aaliyah’s “Rock the Boat,” among other highlights. Tyla aimed for a high-energy, fun, and dance-filled set, incorporating elements of her South African culture with the presence of her dancers. The singer was thrilled to have her family by her side, making the experience reminiscent of old times.

In terms of her stage fashion, Tyla opted for a vintage look, drawing inspiration from the 2000s era. Styled by Ronnie Hart and working with Dolce & Gabbana, Tyla wore a dazzling crystal mesh bra top layered under a white crop t-shirt, paired with a red and white brocade mini skirt featuring black glass fringe. These pieces were sourced from Dolce & Gabbana’s spring 2000 runway collection, giving her outfit a retro yet fresh aesthetic. Tyla fell in love with the skirt for its daringly short length, perfectly aligning with her personal style preferences.

To modernize her throwback ensemble, Tyla added her own unique touches, including torn fishnet tights, belly chains, hoop earrings, and Burju’s leopard leona boots. Her jewelry, all by Pandora, complemented her look seamlessly, as she is a face for the brand. Tyla’s spontaneous decision to rip her stockings last minute added a touch of edginess to her outfit, perfectly encapsulating the spirit of Coachella where more is always more.

The singer’s ability to blend vintage elements with contemporary flair was a testament to her creativity and artistry, leaving a lasting impression on the festival audience. With this performance, Tyla has solidified her place as a rising star in the music industry, poised for even greater success in the future.
