In a UK under the beleaguered leadership of Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the nation seems to be trudging toward an authoritarian quagmire of censorship. In this climate, a mother who dares to post a ‘negative’ comment about criminal migrants can receive a harsher sentence than many convicted rapists and pedophiles.
Even prominent figures are not immune to the scrutiny of the so-called ‘politically correct brigade’. This was made abundantly clear for former football star and BBC commentator Gary Lineker, who found himself in the crosshairs of controversy.
Lineker was effectively ‘canceled’, dismissed from the BBC and now faces the potential of a police investigation over what has been labeled ‘an anti-Semitic Instagram post’.
The Telegraph reported:
“Officers from Scotland Yard visited at least one complainant who expressed significant distress regarding the social media post from last week.”

While no formal investigation has been initiated yet, it appears one ‘offended’ family received a visit from law enforcement indicating that a ‘crime reference number’ will be forthcoming.
“A statement from the Metropolitan Police read: ‘We have received a number of reports from members of the public relating to a post published on social media on Monday, 12 May. The reports will be assessed to determine what further action might be required. Currently, there is no police investigation into this matter’.”
In response to the backlash, Lineker deleted the post and claimed ignorance regarding the rat emoji and its historically charged implications.

“Lineker’s departure from the BBC was confirmed on Monday after mounting pressure within the organization surrounding a pro-Palestine video he shared on his Instagram story. Police were approached last Wednesday specifically regarding the rat emoji, a symbol historically used by Nazis as a derogatory term against Jewish individuals.”
“Calls for his removal from the BBC intensified on Thursday following an explosive interview with Lineker published by Telegraph Sport, where he made further comments regarding Israel and criticized his superior at the BBC. It was confirmed at noon on Monday that this Sunday’s Match of the Day would be Lineker’s final appearance on the network.”
Lineker has since issued two apologies for the post, asserting that he would ‘never consciously repost anything anti-Semitic; such a notion goes against everything I stand for’.
