The T20 International Tri-nations Cup 2024 witnessed an intense clash between Kuwait and Malaysia at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur. In a thrilling encounter, Malaysia emerged victorious, securing a convincing win over Kuwait.

With this win, Malaysia claimed the top spot on the points table with two points and an impressive net run rate of +1.130. On the other hand, Kuwait, who suffered their first loss of the tournament, slipped to the second position with the same number of points but a net run rate of -0.610. Hong Kong, yet to secure a win, are currently in third place with a net run rate of -0.573.

Malaysia won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. Their decision paid off as they put up a stellar bowling performance, restricting Kuwait’s batters from putting up a challenging total. Only Meet Bhavsar and skipper Mohammed Aslam managed to reach double digits as Kuwait was bundled out for a mere 70 runs in 15.5 overs.

Pavandeep Singh was the star performer with the ball for Malaysia, claiming 4 wickets for 16 runs in 3.5 overs, including a maiden over. Muhammad Amir also delivered an exceptional performance, picking up 3 wickets for 20 runs in his four overs.

Chasing the modest target, Malaysian skipper Syed Aziz led from the front with a well-crafted innings of 35 runs. Despite a minor middle-order collapse, Muhammad Amir’s quickfire 15 off 17 balls helped Malaysia chase down the target in 15.2 overs with five wickets in hand. Adnan Idrees took two wickets for Kuwait, but their total was not enough to defend against Malaysia’s determined chase.
