Utah Judge Arrested for Sending Sexual Images to Young Girls
A prominent Utah judge with a long history of community involvement with youth is facing serious charges after allegedly sending sexual images and videos to young girls on an online messaging platform. Kevin Robert Christensen, 64, was arrested by the FBIās Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force after sexually explicit chat threads with underage children were uncovered on his KIK account, according to the West Valley City Police Department.
The disturbing chats date back to last September, and authorities have also accused Christensen of discussing his inappropriate interests in children with other adults and soliciting graphic images of minors.
Authorities initiated an investigation on February 28 after receiving information about Christensen’s online activities. It was revealed that the judge engaged in graphic sexual conversations with a user who claimed to be a 13-year-old girl, even sending explicit videos and justifying the conversations as mere fantasies.
Further evidence showed that in September, Christensen communicated with someone claiming to be a 16-year-old girl and exchanged lewd images with them, highlighting the judge’s dangerous behavior.
As a result, Christensen was charged with two counts of enticing a minor, two counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, and two counts of dealing harmful materials to a minor, all serious felonies.
Christensen, who was appointed to the Box Elder County Justice Court in 1996, has been put on administrative leave without pay following his arrest. He is currently being held without bail at Davis County Jail.
Despite his legal background and community involvement, including speaking engagements with youth and civic groups, Christensen’s alleged actions have raised serious concerns about his character and the trust placed in him as a judge.
It is a stark reminder that individuals in positions of authority must be held accountable for their actions, especially when they involve exploiting vulnerable members of society. The case serves as a warning about the dangers of online predators and the need for vigilance in protecting children from harm.
