New Company Named Versant to House Cable Networks Spun Off from NBCUniversal and Comcast
The era of SpinCo is coming to an end as the cable networks and other media assets that will be separated from NBCUniversal and Comcast later this year will now be under a new parent company called Versant. Mark Lazarus, the CEO of the new company, revealed the name to employees through a memo on Tuesday.
“We understand that not everyone may immediately embrace the name of our new company. There were other options we considered, but after spending some time with VERSANT, I believe it captures our essence, exudes energy, and signifies our commitment to progress,” Lazarus stated in the memo.
Versant will be home to prominent TV networks such as MSNBC, CNBC, USA, and E! among other media properties.
