BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

The narrative of America is profoundly shaped by the valor, integrity, and unwavering commitment of our veterans. Their sacrifices ensure that the flames of liberty continue to illuminate our Republic, safeguarding our cherished way of life. For nearly 250 years, their indomitable spirit has guided our Nation through both tribulations and victories, guaranteeing that freedom remains a steadfast promise for generations to come. On this Veterans Day, we express our heartfelt appreciation and reaffirm our pledge to honor their service, sustain their legacy, and provide every veteran with the loyalty, respect, and support they have rightfully earned.

From the moment our Nation’s Founders championed the cause of independence, they understood that the preservation of freedom relies on those willing to defend it. In the throes of the American Revolution, the Continental Congress enacted the first national veterans’ benefits law aimed at caring for wounded and disabled veterans. This pivotal decision established a foundational promise: a Nation dedicated to liberty owes a profound debt of gratitude to those who have fought for our freedom. Unfortunately, for far too long, politicians have fallen short in fulfilling this commitment, leading to disgraceful outcomes in veteran healthcare, housing, and employment. Under my administration, the Federal Government will no longer abandon these heroes.

During my first term, we made historic strides in reforming the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and enhancing healthcare and economic opportunities for our veterans. I signed landmark legislation to enhance accountability, remove those who failed our veterans, and ensure timely, quality care. We are building on these achievements by continuously improving the VA. This year, we have inaugurated 16 new veteran health clinics nationwide, simplified the process for veterans to transfer their benefits to their survivors, and eliminated certain diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to redirect taxpayer dollars toward programs that directly assist veterans in need. Remarkably, we have already cut the backlog of veterans awaiting VA benefits by over 37 percent, a stark contrast to the 24 percent increase seen during the previous administration — and we’re just getting started.

This past May, I signed an Executive Order to establish the National Center for Warrior Independence, which aims to shelter up to 6,000 homeless veterans by 2028. Additionally, I enacted the One Big Beautiful Bill, which makes the 2017 Trump Tax Cut permanent and alleviates taxes on Social Security for most seniors, thus lightening the financial load for veterans living on fixed incomes. Through these initiatives, we are renewing our Nation’s commitment to all who have served.

Our Nation’s greatness is a direct result of those who have honorably donned the uniform and devoted their lives to defending our families, our freedoms, and the core values of America. Today, we extend our deepest gratitude to our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, and Guardians for their sacrifices, and we acknowledge the families who share the burden of their service. Under my leadership, our Nation will consistently honor the legacy of our veterans by ensuring that America remains strong, proud, and free — and as President, I will steadfastly support them.

In respectful acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by our service members in advancing peace and freedom globally, Congress has designated (5 U.S.C. 6103(a)) November 11 of each year as a legal public holiday to honor our Nation’s veterans.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim November 11, 2025, as Veterans Day. I encourage all Americans to reflect on the courage and sacrifices of our veterans through public ceremonies and private expressions of gratitude. I call upon Federal, State, and local officials to display the flag of the United States and engage in patriotic activities within their communities.
