On Saturday, millions took to the streets across France to celebrate the Fête de la Musique, a vibrant music festival. However, the festivities quickly descended into chaos, with reports of violence, clashes with law enforcement, and even stabbings leading to hundreds, if not thousands, injured.
In a disturbing twist, 145 individuals fell victim to “syringe attacks,” a tactic seemingly aimed at incapacitating them using a date-rape drug.
According to a local mayor, the festival managed to “break all attendance records,” coinciding with a playoff match for the FC Metz soccer team.
As reported by France 24, “Nearly 150 people reported being assaulted with syringes across France during its annual ‘Fête de la Musique’ summer festival, with Paris police confirming 13 cases in the capital alone. Twelve suspects have been arrested, according to the interior ministry, while over 370 others faced detention for various offenses.”
Moreover, unverified social media reports have surfaced, alleging that the violence left around 1,500 individuals injured.
As per Remix News, six individuals were stabbed, one critically, with 371 arrests made, 13 police officers injured, and 51 vehicles set ablaze amidst the chaos.

However, Metz Mayor François Grosdider confirmed via Instagram that “two individuals, including one armed with a syringe,” had been apprehended.
“On social media, a call for syringe assaults during the Music Festivals in major cities was circulated. At 21:15 [9:15 PM], the first report of such an attack reached us from Rue du Palais. Approximately fifteen young women (ages 14 to 20) were victimized in Metz,” the post elaborated.
“The municipal police also intervened, apprehending an individual who slapped a young girl. Both national and municipal police quickly managed a few brawls throughout the night and responded to incidents related to excessive alcohol consumption.”

The interior ministry reported 145 victims of needle assaults nationwide, with Paris police documenting 13 incidents within the capital.
Authorities have yet to specify if these cases of alleged needle spiking involved date-rape drugs like Rohypnol or GHB, substances known for leaving victims disoriented and vulnerable to sexual assault.
“Some victims were transported to hospitals for toxicology screenings,” stated the ministry.
In Paris, investigations are underway after three individuals— including a 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old male—reported being stabbed at three distinct locations, according to prosecutors.
