Chicago police have recently released surveillance footage showcasing a daring burglary crew in action, as they used an SUV and a chain to rip an ATM from a storefront in Uptown over the weekend. This incident is just one of at least eleven burglaries that the crew has committed this month alone, targeting businesses across the city since mid-January.

The video, captured at New York Food Mart & Deli at 4136 North Broadway, shows a dark SUV backing up to the store entrance around 7:15 a.m. Six individuals wearing black ski masks, hooded sweatshirts, and pants can be seen forcefully entering the store using a sledgehammer and crowbar.

Once inside, the men proceed to secure a thick chain from the SUV, attaching one end to the vehicle and wrapping the other around the ATM within the store. With a sudden acceleration, the SUV pulls the ATM through the storefront, causing glass and debris to scatter across the parking lot.

According to authorities, the same crew had already committed two burglaries earlier that morning – one in the 1300 block of West Ohio Street and another in the 2600 block of West Fullerton Avenue. The crime spree began on January 12, with the crew targeting multiple businesses in Lakeview and other areas of the city.

In each incident, the suspects used crowbars to force their way into the establishments, stealing cash and cash registers. The burglaries continued over the following days, with businesses in various locations falling victim to the crew’s criminal activities.

While the Chicago Police Department has linked 11 break-ins to the crew, authorities acknowledge that the actual number of crimes committed by the group may be significantly higher. Anyone with information is urged to contact Area Detectives at the provided phone numbers or submit an anonymous tip online.
