Shocking Sinkhole Incident in New Jersey
A dramatic video captured the moment a dump truck got swallowed by a massive sinkhole in New Jersey while on its way to repair the same sinkhole. Another car also sank into a second sinkhole nearby.
The incident occurred in Philipsburg, near the Pennsylvania border, where the dump truck was delivering asphalt to the site. The truck ended up halfway in the ground, with its front half sticking out above the street. The fall damaged a water main, leaving several customers without water, confirmed Aqua New Jersey.
The truck driver sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene by medical personnel, as reported by the Phillipsburg Police Department.
About 30 feet away, another sinkhole swallowed a car, which has since been removed according to WFMZ. Aqua NJ officials mentioned that they have to wait for the dump truck to be removed from the sinkhole before repairing the water main.

The sinkholes appeared on Summit Avenue near the intersection with Lewis Street, leading the Town of Phillipsburg to declare a local state of emergency. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to steer clear of the area until it is deemed safe.
