A horrific crime has shaken the community of Washington, as authorities revealed the gruesome details of the death of 82-year-old Marcia Norman. The grandmother was found buried under a shed, and it was determined that she suffered a painful and prolonged death at the hands of her handyman, Jeffrey Zizz.

According to Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock, Norman was bound with Velcro straps and brutally beaten to death with a pneumatic nailer. The injuries she sustained indicated that she was tortured for hours before succumbing to her wounds. Warnock described it as the “worst case” he had ever witnessed, stating that the investigation into her death was deeply disturbing.

Thurston County prosecutor Jon Tunheim noted that the injuries Norman suffered were consistent with torture, painting a chilling picture of the brutality she endured. Zizz, a convicted sex offender and father of five, was arrested on suspicion of murder, kidnapping, and unlawful disposal of human remains in connection with Norman’s death.

Norman was reported missing by her family on April 4, and her body was discovered five days later buried under a shed on a property in Olympia that had recently been built by Zizz. The handyman, who was the last person seen with Norman before her disappearance, is being held without bail and is awaiting formal charges.

During a search of Zizz’s home, authorities uncovered a disturbing five-page letter detailing plans for a burglary and sexual assault. While there was no evidence of sexual assault in Norman’s case, the letter raised concerns about Zizz’s violent tendencies. Sheriff Derek Sanders indicated that the evidence pointed to Zizz as a violent individual, suggesting that this may have been a motive for the heinous crime.

Zizz was arrested in Missoula, Montana, on April 7 and extradited back to Washington for questioning. He initially lied about his whereabouts on the night of Norman’s disappearance, leading authorities to consider him a suspect in the case. Zizz is scheduled to be arraigned on May 6, facing charges related to Norman’s murder.

This is not the first time Zizz has faced serious charges, as he was previously arrested for rape and molestation of children. Despite pleading guilty to some charges and serving time behind bars, he was released early on the condition of attending treatment. Sheriff Sanders expressed frustration at the leniency shown to a convicted pedophile, highlighting a larger issue within the justice system.

The shocking details of Marcia Norman’s death have left the community reeling, as they grapple with the senseless violence inflicted upon an innocent grandmother. As the investigation continues and Zizz awaits trial, the hope is that justice will be served for Norman and her grieving family.
