Cowan wasted no time in defending his teammate by dropping the gloves with LaCombe.
The rookie was penalized with a two-minute instigating penalty, a five-minute major for fighting, and a 10-minute misconduct penalty. LaCombe, on the other hand, received a five-minute major for fighting.
